[Skincare] My First Asian Beauty Haul

*If you aren’t familiar with asian beauty skincare, check out my post “Asian Beauty 101” before you keep reading. *

I first learned about “Asian Beauty” in October 2016. I have never had bad skin; that is, I have never been terrorized by my skin to the point where it became a daily issue I thought about. Until Summer 2016. I describe my skin type as Dry/Dehydrated. My ‘”problem areas” are around the outsides of my face- think jaw, outside of brows, sometimes under cheek bone. Positives: I don’t get particularly oily over the course of the day; I have never had cystic acne (or really any acne); I don’t suffer from rosacea or hyperpigmentation. Downsides: my skin is so dry. I mean, dry to the point where it hurts when I splash water on it. It seemed like I always had to have some type of lotion handy. My skin gets rashes very easily.

Perhaps it had to do with moving to a more temperate climate, but I started developing Tinea Versicolor all over my face. It was horrible. Rough, visibly dry. Tinea Versicolor is a fungal infection of the skin. Nothing wild, but when your face goes from looking okay to like you took sandpaper to it overnight, you’re gonna be concerned.

I found what I like to call the “Asian Beauty Community” online, and started doing research. I saw incredible transformations, a boatload of scientific information, reviews, etc. I was convinced and decided I would start a routine of my own. Since a full asian beauty skincare routine is generally ~10 steps, they suggested I start slow so I can give my face time to adjust to all the products and not break out. Well, I absolutely love anything skincare/makeup/diva so it was hard not to buy it all. Since then my routine has changed drastically, and I have tried a lot of different products. Some worked for me, some didn’t, but I had to start somewhere!

I purchased everything from https://sokoglam.com/. They are definitely not my favorite retailer anymore (inflated prices & limited stock), but the easy to use site layout and array of inexpensive products make it a good place for a newbie to start. Not to mention, they have fast shipping. It beats waiting 30+ days for my products to get in from Korea. Oh, and shipping is free if you spend $35- which I promise, you will.
